Specialty Board of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery


Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery is the minimally invasive surgical specialty devoted to deliver an artistic and aesthetic amplification of human beauty. The American association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery preaches a specialty that stresses on acquiring proper knowledge and refined clinical skills to accurately diagnose and analyze a clinical case, implementing a treatment plan that is tailored to this case, proficiently performing the aesthetic procedure, properly managing peri-operatively, and confidently preventing and treating any possible complication that might arise from the practicing of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.

The American Association of Aesthetic Surgery brings together all medical specialties devoted to provide, beyond the teaching, credentialing and monitoring, ways for doctors to easily and safely add new aesthetic modalities to their growing practices in order to enrich and empower their lives and the lives of their patients, and to fulfill a growing need in the society.The Board will set the highest standard in the World and verifies that its members adhere to these standards to so that consumers are given authoritative assurance by selecting a Diplomate of this Board. There will be a specialist Register for any one to research being consumers or physicians, C.M.E. (continuous medical education) will be ongoing for any member who wishes to keep their registration. It will also have several modules to identify the exact area of specialist training. (PENDING AWAITING FOR AMA RECOGNITION OF AESTHETIC MEDICINE & SURGERY AS A SELF-DESIGNATED MEDICAL SPECIALTY)

AESTHETIC MEDICINE AND SURGERY SPECIALTY BOARD CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

1. Applicant must complete a current application furnished by the American Association Of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery (Head Office based at: 
9135 West Olympic Boulevard, Beverly Hills, California 90212.

2. Applicant must submit proof of a current valid and unrestricted medical license in good standing in the jurisdiction where the applicant practices. Applicants must provide an explanation for any current or past disciplinary action by any state medial board. 

3. Applicant shall submit current copy of his/her current curriculum vitae, certified by applicants as being true and correct as of the date submitted.

4. Applicant shall submit two (2) letters of recommendation, including but not limited to, letters from: (a) the chairperson of his/her residency program or, the department chief of his/her current hospital facility; (b) his/her specialty fellowship director, if applicable; (c) any other practicing physician who has known the applicant for at least five (5) years prior to his or her application and or by a active member of a local Medical Association.

5. For The advanced module, applicant must affirmatively state and prove valid hospital operating room privileges in current good standing. If the applicant does not have current hospital operating room privileges and performs all surgical procedures in his/her office facility, the facility must be accredited by the local health agencies.

6. Applicants must have successfully completed the two modules administered by AAAMS www.theaaams.com. In addition applicants must submit proof of at least 25 CME credits in Aesthetic Medicine, Cosmetic dermatology and or Cosmetic Surgery earned in the year prior to application. These credits must be in category 1. 

7. Applicants shall affirm under oath that he/she has no history of, nor are actions currently pending regarding any malpractice law suit, felony, crimes, convictions or substance abuse.

8. Applicants shall successfully complete a written examination covering general knowledge of the Aesthetic Medicine module applied for. Applicants must successfully complete an oral and clinical competence examination in the module of Aesthetic Medicine certification sought. The written and oral components must be successfully completed the same year of within one year of each other.
