The American Association of Aesthetic Medicine
and Surgery is committed to teaching the
artistic act of Aesthetics in a practical
clear-cut approach with safety in mind.
Worldwide there is no formal training in
Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery catered for
by any medical authority. The rapid demand
and acceptance of the public for Aesthetic
medical services such as
dermatology and
cosmetic surgery substantiate the importance
and the need to standardize it. Many
untrained practitioners are performing
Aesthetic Surgery procedures without
acquiring proper knowledge, depth and level
of experience that this discipline deserves.
Aesthetic Surgery is not a discipline you
can tag on to another as it has grown so
much in the last decade. Training seminars,
hands-on courses, workshops and conferences
are so inconsistent and do not represent a
comprehensive formal training. So the time
has come create a specialty board that can
set the standards. AAAMS serves to set those
standards to establish
reconstructive and
aesthetic surgery and medicine as a separate
specialty in the world of medicine. Its aim
is to ensure uniform excellence in the care
of patients. It is therefore a guard and
advocate of consumers seeking those medical
